June 12, 2011
What another busy week, Ken is working today and did a couple of loads of laundry.  Also set up email and logged into CPanel for the new website.

Weather is 'iffy' at best today, cool and overcast, no rain so far at least.

Ken is off to work today, not his usual shift but they are still working on running 3 trams on weekends so he is doing this one.  When he got there they decided not to run the third tram after all as the weather was not that great.  Looked like rain for sure

It was shopping in the morning and was home about 2:30.  Made a drop in visit to Linda Simon.  Was so good to see her and have the chance to have a real one on one chat for a change.  She was quite excited, and so was I, to tell me that her son Tyler was the pilot on the flight to take our PM Stephen Harper on his surprise visit to the troops last week in Afghanistan.

Once home I spent a lot of today reading and viewing tutorials on the different aspects of the website.  By the time I finished my head was spinning and my mind was going a mile a minute thinking of all the possibilities for the site.

The sun is shining nicely so far this morning and Ken is off to play golf while I head up to the Rec Hall for coffee hour and then Tai chi.

A bit of cleaning (floor washing, vaccuuming, etc.) and then we took a drive to Rosehill Auctions to see what they might have in Dishwashers.  The only one that I saw that would have been close to what I wanted was a Samsung and the writing on the control panel buttons was not very clear.  Was glad we went however as I feel even better about the dishwasher that I have ordered.

On the way home we stop at 3West for a drink and decide we will come back  here for their fish tonight.  The fish was OK but we both still prefer it at the Ridgeway Legion and it's even a bit cheaper there too.  The place has been fixed up nicely and I hope it does well.

Ken is off to work this morning and am not playing golf today, still feeling quite sore and it's  very humid this morning so felt that golf was not a good plan.  As soon as I got up was able to update the website for today.  Called John Shumilak and went over to help him with some computer issues.  Did a bike ride before I went and boy was I tired and thirsty when I got there.

This afternoon attended the funeral for Katherine Fishers mother Sirka Blank.  It was at the Butler Funeral Home in St. Catharines (Duke St.) at 2:00 pm.  I arrived about 1:35 and got almost the last parking spot in the lot.  It was a nice service, her sorority sisters did a ceremony to begin.  Interment was in Victoria Lawn Cemetery on Queenston Street and then back to Katherine's home in Grimsby for dinner and conversation.

The trip to the cemetery was interesting as the funeral procession ending up being cut into several times and it was a good thing I had a good idea how to get there.  I ended up leading about 10 other cars there also.  The interment service was lovely, flowers were so nice and Katherine made a point of making sure that everyone had a bloom from the arrangement covering the casket.

I ended up sitting with several of Katherine's friends and it was a thoroughly pleasant afternoon.  They have a lovely home right on Lake Erie.  We sat on the deck overlooking the lake; wonderful breeze and occasional cloud kept the temperature just right.  The refreshments were truly a meal and everything was delicious.  It was after 6:00 when I finally left for home.

Made a stop at Costco to pick up a chicken and a couple of other items making it shortly after 7:00 by the time I got home.  Ken was at the hall playing poker by the time I got home.  Was too tired to go to games night tonight but had to make a quick trip to the Rec Hall to unhook and bring home the modem and router we used at Computer Club yesterday.

This morning took the modem and router up early and got it up and running for Computer Club this afternoon; then coffee hour.

Another good group out for Club this afternoon.  We really covered a lot of things today and I hope they were able to take in some of what we discussed.  After the regular meeting stayed and helped a couple of other people.  By the time I left it was after 4:00.  Once home I got people added to the list and things emailed to the group.  A couple of people suggested we do a 'class' on wireless next time so I researched and prepared this for next time.

After I was in bed realized that I had not unhooked the modem and router and they were both still at the hall.  Will get it picked up tomorrow morning.

Another warm and sunny day.  Ken is off to work this morning.  I'm meeting a group of old friends at Betty's Restaurant for the Disher Family & Friends Reunion at 12:30.  It's so nice to catch up with everyone even if it is just once a year

Well today is the day to see about a new dishwasher, just tired of having to wash dishes before putting them in.  Did my homework but will be interesting to see if I remember anything when I get to the store.  Tried Ridgeway Furniture but they were just way too expensive.  Drove to St. Catharines; looked at Home Depot, they have a Maytag that will do pretty well everything that I want and the price is decent at $598. plus $50 delivery and $20 to take away the old one.  From there it's off to Future Shop.  They didn't have anything I liked for the same price range.

Once I was home decided to just go ahead an order the Maytag JetClean from Home Depot; have to wait for about 3 weeks for it but mine still works so that's not a big deal.

Tonight is the D Day dinner for the Artillery Association at the Legion on Spring St. in Niagara Falls.  First time to have it there; food was very good and nice to have parking, hope we can have it there again next year.  Was good to see everyone again, especially Sue & Bill Hems as we didn't get to see them in Florida this past winter.

Decide to try Missy's Love is in the Hair in Stevensville for my hair cut this time.  Called for an appt and when I got there the young girl at the desk greeted me by name.  She had cut my hair before at SuperCuts in Niagara Falls.  She did a pretty good job, much better than the last cut I got in NF.  It was a little more money $18 (plus tip) but I didn't have to drive into the Falls so probably saved enough in gas to cover the added cost.
